Meet the
Fifth Grade Teachers
Ms. Miele (5A)Hello! Let me tell you a little about myself. Although I have been teaching for five years, this is my 1st year at Evergreen. I have a degree in Elementary and Special Education as well as Literacy Education. I am currently taking classes to be certified to teach students who are learning English as a second language. Some hobbies of mine include going to the beach, reading, and exercising. I also like to spend time with family and friends. I enjoy traveling around the world to experience different cultures. I have been to several different countries such as Greece, Italy, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Canada, Bermuda, France, England, and Turkey! I have two younger brothers and a pet fish named Morgan. Soccer and volleyball are two sports that I enjoy playing. I played soccer for 20 years including four years at a Division II college. I can't wait to add to your knowledge and prepare you for sixth grade!

Mrs. Smith (5B)Hello there! My name is Mrs. Smith. This is my 3rd year teaching at Evergreen. My first year, I was a Math Teacher. This is my 2nd year teaching 5th grade and I LOVE it! I will tell you a little about myself you might not know. I live in Ronkonkoma so I travel a bit to come to work to see your smiling faces each and every day! I went to Dowling College for my Masters degree in Elementary and Special Education. I am married and have 2 teenage children. My son is in 12th grade and will be graduating this year and will pursue college in Criminal Justice. My daughter is in 10th grade and she is an avid gymnast and softball player. I also have 2 dogs. Tonka is a 10-year-old Akita/Chow/Shepard mix and Pearl is a 3-year-old black lab mix which I rescued from a shelter in VA on Valentine’s Day. I also have a conure bird named Angel, and my children each have a beta fish. I look forward to working with each and every one of you! Let’s work hard every day so we can achieve our goals! I hope you enjoy your year in 5th grade!
